In 2015 I Backpacked from Land's End to John o'Groats with my husband Bob and our dog Barney.

I recorded the trip in a diary and a series of paintings as we progressed north.

Prior to starting we were regularly asked which charity we were supporting and we answered none, we're just doing it for fun! This made us think however, we had already made many backpacking trips with Barney and he always attracted attention carrying his own food in panniers. Why not let Barney 'collect' for Guide Dogs? The walk became known as 'Barney's Long Walk', hence the title of the first book created from my diary entries. My second book, Painting on the End to End Trail contains over 130 paintings created en route.

We mostly followed a route described in the Cicerone Press guide book 'The End to End Trail' by Andy Robinson. Details of our route along with downloadable gpx format files are available here
